squad: red bull steep crest

a while back the folks at red bull tested an event to be known as steep crest. the formula was simple: here's a hill, now mob down it as fast as you can. seems simple enough but then again, they happened to choose a san francisco hill. if you dont know how intense that is, look that shit up because that shit is daunting as fuck. that being said, our sole team member alex gonzalez made it out on top in the track bike division. FUCK YEAH.

SQAAAAAD.

the man of many talents: matt montoya for halloway

Montoya x Halloway from Matthew Montoya on Vimeo.
when i passed through the local hangout spot the other day, matt was working on this one. he was only 30 seconds in, but i knew this was going to be full on redic. he showed me a handful of clips too which got me properly hyped. we know he absolutely kills it on a FGFS setup and this freecoaster edit is the jam.that hang five at guadalupe (though it's a clip he showed me) was a banger. oh, and let's not forget that his last edit was a skate edit.  i heard he's got his SKYLMT setup going, so look out for some new shit soon.

#2blogs1brand1dudetour: still buzzed

#2blogs1brand1dudetour: still buzzed from BHSK_cogblog on Vimeo.

this was supposed to come out a lot earlier but due to some technical difficulties i had to redo it. twice. i decided to take my go pro to interbike and have random clips of whatever i was around. but then chrome kept giving out beer so i ended up with a bunch of crappy stuff. ibike was fun- ate wings every day, drank beer every day, but now i have it all out of my system and this edit was a nightmare to get out.

shouts to lockedcog for forcing me to turn up.
shouts to slurpcult for driving and keeping me frosty.
shouts to alex gonzalez AKA the stroke master AKA spongebob swag AKA the queen of drag.
shouts to showyousuck for flip phone.
shouts to blocboifame for disrespectful.
shouts to chrome for keeping my buzz.

BHSK goes places: iminusd 4 year anniversary

this past weekend i crawled out of bed, swooped my camera and heded out to cannery park to celebrate the 4th anniversary of iminusd and 5th anniversary of local clothing brand, breezy excusion. these two brands are omnipresent in san jose, and both support FGFS and the local community greatly. here's what came from my lens.  get more after the jump

one wheel wheelie: city bike bmx with animal NY's tyrone williams

i was literally thinking about this a few days ago when san jose introduced their bike share program. i said to myself "i could see a meme or gif of some FGFS dude wheelie-ing down the block with 'haters gon hate' as the tagline. well it looks like animal's (BMX) tyrone williams did this one for animal (media outlet) new york.

this is fucking great.

RANTISH: wheeltalk 2013 revisited, response

MATT REYES | WHEEL TALK 2013 from Matt Reyes on Vimeo.
so why am i posting this up again? well a while back i got a little thing in my inbox about someone responding to my comment on hypebeast saying, "waiting on the hate from bmx riders and the "i didn't know you could do that on a fixie" comments."

now this is me being a smart ass, but i didnt really expect anyone to respond to my comment. the actual response doesn't show on the actual page, but here is what it said:

"Gnari manG to bhsk • 24 days ago −
I don't want to say i am hating because people can do w.e. they want(especially if it means riding any type of bike), but the truth of the matter is I'm just not impressed.
He was kind of smooth, but he was doing basic tricks. Also he didn't do a single big thing that would be intimidating to an average rider.
"wheel talk" if you liked this, you should check out Chase Dehart's part from "let em talk".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
I hope this comparison can further explain my points, and will help you guys see the resulting stigma against fixies in the bmx culture."

the comments section closed before i could respond. so here is my response.

pedal check please: jared swafford fixed jams

Jared Swafford Fixed Jams from jeremie infelise on Vimeo.
sometimes all that animosity towards FGFS from BMX heads gets a little ridiculous and i'm pretty sure jared swafford of odyssey dont care. dude's pretty insane with the fakie tails and the no footed nosie. let's not forget that half of this was done with only one strap and eventually no straps.

who needs to pedal check anyway?

saw this one pop up from the homie jose AKA unicorndick (yes, his nickname is indeed unicorndick) and though there's more skate than FGFS (dude only has a few clips in), i just want to show what the EPA familia has to offer.

UOENO bout that hot chocolate tho.

good ol' fashioned hill bomb: cubby's birthday hill bomb

BHSK love a good hill bomb even if it isnt on a track bike. i mean shit, i take my FGFS setup hill bombing all the time and it's mad fun- i probably get more sideways with the low ratio and the big bars over my overbuilt fuji track pro. terry b of full frame collective posts some good ol' fashioned bombinhttp://fullframecollective.com/g on bmx from time to time and this one caught my eye. here they're bombing mount tamalpais located north of SF. everything is green up there- it's awesome.

i miss my bmx bike.

damn son, where'd you find this: Y.N. Rich Kids' "my bike"

a while back there were these little homies doing as song about hot cheetos and takis. it was a banger, no lie. they're back now with a song about bikes. well now, i'm about that life... instantly downloaded the single. don't be surprised if this ends up in an edit. shout out to bike jerks for bringing this to my attention!

umm.... wow: nike batalla BCN

i watched this a couple of times already today. not even sure what the hell the title implies, but couple of the dudes from the nike team (Alex Kennedy, Kriss Kyle, Joris Coulomb and Daniel Tünte) including two of my favorite bmx riders out there (simone barraco and chad kerley) are all in this hitting up barcelona. this shit should not be real. everything looks like a video game capture and you would swear that these lines are damn near impossible. do yourself a favor and watch this.

peggy suuuuuue: tyler johnson doing other things

right before i went to sleep the other night this guy popped up on CSK and for some reason i'm only getting to it now. no fgfs in it, just tyler being a multitalented dude. is it just me or does everyone in fgfs dabble in everything? remember when we found out that half the good riders out there knew what to do with roller blades? then not too long ago we had a little skate edit with matt montoya.... and it was hellllllaaaa gooooood! shit man, too many talented people out here.

working in reverse: ted james design delving into BMX

(via TJD's flickr)
i knew ted was building bmx bikes and i caught wind of how they're looking now through the footdown. ted is a huge influence for me, arguably starting the movement for custom bikes (over mass produced bikes) in FGFS with the ESB. now a bike made by superted is never a basic bike. the bikes are composed of reynolds 853 tubing with 525 stays which looks pretty gnar when built. he recently got his bmx facebook set up which features a fully built bike with some really nice details. go check it out

looking in the wrong place: charles and torey in SAF BMX 3 edit

Searching Acronyms Forever Part 3: Scoundrels And Founder - Darian Robinson, SAF Mix And The CEO Himself, Evan Gallagher from Nic Gironda on Vimeo.
i was thinking earlier this week, "where is torey thornton?" seriously, there was a void somewhere in the fixieverse and i done sensed it. well self, you need not worry because here he is (along with charles schoen, another dudes gone a little MIA).... in a saf bmx edit. even though they only have a clip each, it's still in line with the rawness of east coast bmx.

i actually dug the whole thing. cutty ass music editing, with cutty ass spots here and there combined with some super raw east coast riding- shit, man.
