wheelie wars: FOAD goes to SE's oakland rideout

Jackson from the FOAD fam rode out to oakland to join some of the oldschool eb86 crew to hit up the SE bike rideout. Wheelie culture is huge right now, and SE bikes has been bringing it since day one. so many heads out there, including D-Blocks, BEASTMODE, and the wildman/SE head honcho todd lyons. glad to see there was a good FGFS and tarck turnout as well! digging the vlogs jackson!

but can it nollie tre flip: koston's all city gorilla monsoon

(via prolly is not probably the radavist)
let's start by saying ^^ that's funny as hell to me. i luh you john (homeboy probably doesnt give a shit and will never read this). i know this isn't the regular bread and butter of this blog but i recognize cool shit when i see it. eric koston is fucking legendary and apparently pushes a santa cruz stigmata (FUCKIN YEAH!) when he's not pushing wood. it looks like he's been getting into the good stuff because this is the shit. hybrids/city bikes are supposed to be boring and un-cool, but sometimes cool ass shit made like this all-city gorilla monsoon steed from GSC. i already love the gorilla monsoon as it fits in that "monstercross" category (that kinda faded away for some reason), and it looks like koston opted to make it the perfect bar bike. i wouldn't leave it out though as it has a metric ton of paul, chris king and white industries stuff on it. hell, it even has the spitfire classic mashsf top cap. top that with sram eagle (UGH I LOVE SRAM EAGLE) and you got a baaaaad machine. you can check it out over at john's spot!

a t-shirt for winter: bike jerks "kings of winter" tee

(via bike jerks)
one can never have too many black t-shirts. but this black t-shirt is rad as fuck. bike related: check. black shirt: check. antlers and skulls and shit: check. a print that looks like it should have been a handbill for a crusty hardcore show held in a roller skating rink: fuck yes, check. give these guys your money.

let it commence: european bike stealing championships

i dont know where the hell i found this shit but i found it pretty hilarious. with improper locking technique rampant around the world, these dudes decided to make a fun little video of people stealing bikes. it's a bit over the top but then again stealing bikes isn't cool, and life is to short to leave your bike out or run a shitty lock.

this one goes out to the ladies: bombtrack 2015 line in video

now that i'm plopped in front of this computer, what's the first on the agenda? well let's take a minute and catch up with the bombtrack familia, shall we?

The DASH 2015 from WeMakeThings on Vimeo.
now i'm sure just about everyone who frequents this blog has seen this one on the internets. low and behold, this is a wolfdrawn joint disguised as a teaser for the bombtrack dash. and you should already know about the dash as well as the guy at the helm, elliot milner. so we wont really get into it. just sit there and enjoy it.

The SCRIPT 2015 from WeMakeThings on Vimeo.
now this fucker i want in my stable immediately. the script is bombtrack's aluminum track monster. it's sexy as fuck. tapered head tube, sram omni-nomnomnoms, a female axle front wheel with buttery smoothed out welds all over makes me want to take this thing out to dinner and kiss it goodnight.

to say i want this one is an understatement.

The NEEDLE 2015 from WeMakeThings on Vimeo.
actually no, i want this one in my stable. if the script is the sexy one that flirts with you all the time, then the needle is the one that keeps it real. this one is all new for 2015, and it's right up my alley with the reynolds 725 tubing- yep. it's fucking steel. and all of it is steel right down to that 5 piece fork. it's the blue collar beast and it even has a place where you can put that chris king headset you've been sitting on for ages.

The ARISE 2015 from WeMakeThings on Vimeo.
still staying within the singlespeed realm, bombtrack brings us the arise. this one we've seen photos of before but not much else. another steel offering, this one ventures off into the wild as a SSCX bike. but it's not so simple. you see, this one has a derailleur hanger, removable cable tabs, a built in singlespeed chain tensioner..... hell the thing has rack mounts if you really want to get into it.

The HOOK 2015 from WeMakeThings on Vimeo.

this is the part where things get rad. the hook is a full on cyclocross bike. it's a straight up, built to fucking kill, cyclocross bike- and a damn good one too. we're talking sram rival, avid discs, mavic wheels, all strapped to (wait for it) columbus tubing. holy fuck. i was gonna type something witty and funny here but all that comes to mind is "holy fuck that's built ass bike"

The OXBRIDGE WOMEN 2015 from WeMakeThings on Vimeo.

The OXBRIDGE MEN 2015 from WeMakeThings on Vimeo.
and now for something completely different. the oxbridge is bombtrack's mild mannered city bike. we're talking, full fenders, box rims,  gum wall tires, and everything old school. oh and ladies? you got a version of the oxbridge as well.

two bikes that haven't seen video treatment yet are the divide and zone. the divide is the "old school" 700c FGFS on which bombtrack is recognized for, and the zone is an urban super commuter that features a shimano internally geared hub.

it's crazy to see how much the bombtrack fam has grown in a matter of a few years. they may have a few more in the garage but the focus has still remained as their offerings have the common thread of being badass rides with top shelf stuff installed.

squad: red bull steep crest

a while back the folks at red bull tested an event to be known as steep crest. the formula was simple: here's a hill, now mob down it as fast as you can. seems simple enough but then again, they happened to choose a san francisco hill. if you dont know how intense that is, look that shit up because that shit is daunting as fuck. that being said, our sole team member alex gonzalez made it out on top in the track bike division. FUCK YEAH.

SQAAAAAD.

#bhskisadamablognow: chari & co x krom kendama

(via chari)
there's a really strange phenomena within the FGFS community where random dudes are getting into dama. some of the foad dudes fuck with dama, kbirdie of machete bikes fame is very into dama, even antonyo wothe has been picking up the dama. so  the dudes over at chari & co teamed up with krom kendama for their own signature setup. why am i posting this? because i own 6 kendama joints, and have no remorse over that shit. get one.

it's gotta be the pants: levis commuter "the ride" trailer

i get a whole lot of flack from my co workers about my love for levi's commuters. although i dont necessarily "commute" in them, they're a damn good fitting pant (which explains why i own 4 pairs of them), and they feel good even on an fgfs bike. the denim giant is doing a campaign featuring folks ho represent certain commuter cultures. one of those cultures i'm very familiar with involves oakland's own baybe the scraper bike champ. that dude is such a nice guy, and he's really doing a lot for the bike community out there even if you don't agree with the kind of ride he's got. i really can't wait to see his feature.

our friends do cool shit: breezy excursion 2014 feat straight up

Breezy Excursion - 2014 Summer Collection from Matt Reyes on Vimeo.
you may be wondering why this is here- these bikes have motors on them. well it's who's behind the helmet that matters. roger regan and scott horton are the dudes hooning all over the city and if the name scott horton sounds familiar, then you already know what's good. scott is part of the wheeltalk familia and used to rip an FGFS bike. keeping it in the family, wheeltalk's own matt reyes filmed this one for our local heroes breezy excursion.

BHSK's friends do cool shit.

i dig this: team war fgfs tallbike

WAR 008: FGFS TALL BIKE from Team WAR on Vimeo.
i really really dig this. im a sucker for the strange, and there's plenty of that here. you got a tall bike, and some old school fgfs stuff at a dope ass spot. that abandoned go kart track has so much potential and the random ass pool looks legit.

totally normal: fairdale r + d

Fairdale R+D from Fairdale Bikes on Vimeo.
yes, this has already made it's rounds, but if you haven't seen this, then you should see this. nothing nuts, it;s just good ol' fashioned hoonery from the folks over at fairdale bikes.

last page sexy face yung fixie: SOFB 16

stoked on fixed bikes is on their 16th issue and though i tend to let SOFB slip under my radar, this is actually a pretty special issue (well, to me anyway). first off they interview the fam: jakob santos. they also profile the tuga tour he did while accompanied by his brother jesse as well as the incomparable ricardo lino. flip to the back at page 90 and we have another on of the bhsk fam, alex gonzalez in an ad for BB17. i'm so proud of that dude. #YUNGFIXIEFOREVERTHO

the authority of a certain sport: iminusd "i'd rather be" license plate frame

(via imd)
youve seen it before. a license plate frame from a certain sporting goods retailer that screams at you "i'd rather be (insert sport here)." yeah they're free but you also become a moving ad for the damn place. that's not cool. why not run something that you'd be proud of and support a local shop like you should. go buy one of these fuckers from iminusd and wear that shit proud.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BIKE SHOP PEOPLE.

far from refined, tastefully raw: bbb #6

BBB #6 from MoN on Vimeo.
as my blogging tourettes continues, here's the sixth edition of ramon antonio III's BBB stuff. sure it's full of random shit, sure it's full of not great tricks and lines, but it's true to form every fuckin time. hobos, bails, segway tours, vape pens, CATS!, assisted tire grabs, a look into the living conditions at destroy den (they WILL put bikes on you while you sleep, FACT), and me.... blocking the damn camera (whoops). anyway, this is 8 minutes and 26 seconds of pure gold.

catching up: road bike party 2

i'm about a week out so i have a little bit of catching up to do. i'm not worried though since im sitting on a ton of shit i want to comment on and have this whole refreshing feeling going on and shit. first up we have martyn ashton's road bike party 2. yeah sure this has been all over the interwebs, but fuck it- watch this shit again. martyn blew us all away with the first road bike party and now he's got himself a dis brake wielding colnago (as if the pinarello dogma wasnt enough in his last video). this time around he's brought chris akrigg AND danny macaskill- both of whom we know can do ape shit stuff on a variety of bikes.

ashton injured himself filming this, taking some to the vertibrae. get better duder!

the greatest thing: #FIXIEDRAKE

(via fixiedrake)
in a time where people are taking fixie a little too seriously, there are definitely things that take that edge off. case in point: FIXIEDRAKE. it started from the bottom now we here as a drunken idea and apparently someone picked it up and made an instagram AND a facebook page. it's really fucking dumb but genius at the same damn time.

afrique: lucas brunelle goes to africa

Lucas Brunelle goes to Africa from Cinelli Official on Vimeo.
though we exchanged little words during interbike, i was honored to meet lucas brunelle at interbike. the man is a beast when it comes to riding, an epic filmmaker and to top it off, he's a cool dude. cinelli asked him to accompany chas christiansen, dario toso, and sipho tati on a journey through africa. dune bombing, flat mobbing, urban exploration and more are in this one. if this doesnt inspire you to get your ass out and ride, i'm not sure what will.

the goods: fyxation leathergoods

(via fyxation)
here is what's awesome about this. 1) it carries beer. 2) it carries six vessels of beer. 3) literally, fun between your legs as cliche as that is. 4) full grain leather mmmmmmm. 5) it's made in 'mercuh, milwaukee to be exact. 6) did i mention it carries your beer? our familia at fyxation has always come up with cool stuff and this is exactly in my wheelhouse. along with this they've also made frisbee caddys, carrying handles and a wine bottle holster as well.

MY MONEY. IT IS YOURS.

the path: seattle to san francisco with MoN

Seattle To San Francisco from MoN on Vimeo.
our homie ramon antonio III can live life. recently he spent 19 days on the slow road from seattle to san francisco and this is what he got out of it. debauchery and riding, that's what it's all about.

#SLURPCULT: @showyousuck "BIG GULP"

so this isnt bike related. let's just say this pertains to BHSK by association. our overlord at slurpcult has been supporting dudes in the bike realm (the guy drove us to vegas for ibike, that's rad) and also happens to support chicago based showyousuck.... er go, this belongs here. stop bumping "going home" by drake, grab 44oz of your favorite frozen beverage, and bump this shit at high volumes.
