stuntin and skuntin: wrahw patch

(via wrahw)
i was sitting in front of a coffeehouse with ted shred and this popped up on my twitter. i was expecting a piece of material with WRAHW printed on it (just like those punk kids wore back in high school), but when got in front of a computer and saw them, my mind blew into a bajillion chunks. torey's doing it big mang.
save me one...

kareem's k-rabs

(via blaq)

these my friends, may be the solution to aging straps that stretch and get loose all the time. foot retention is a big part of fixed gear riding and is pretty much a neccessity. kareem at Loose Nuts  has been working with blaq to find the next step in foot retention. now you may be wondering why the hell there are bolts in the pedals:
the straps are bolted into the pedal calling for less play in the strap. the cross over design is much like the ol' powerstap which keeps your sneakers firmly in place when set correctly. and i know people (especially around my area) have been getting some of their straps stolen due to the simple velcro attachments- with this, those straps aint goin nowheres. check it out along with blaq's v3 straps!

that's trash: new trash bags website

(via trash)

if you know me, I LOVE BIGASS BAGS. i dont know what it is about ridiculously huge messenger bags that makes me feel all warm and giddy. based out in minneapolis, minnesota, trash bags started out in a little room with a desktop sewing machine. two years later, they have a website dedicated to bringing thes crazy fun bags to the table. i mean come on, it's a walrus and a rainbow. that's fucking rad. it's made by riders for riders from the city streets of minneapolis to you. so when you get tired of that cookie cutter bag, get something that's made for you, skip the middle man, and look up trash.

swag sunday: cadence lorum ipsum collection

(via Cadence)
lets be honest here, cycling specific clothes are kinda ugly and the stuff that looks good to wear from day to day gets kinda pricy. that's where cadence comes in. sure, 88 bucks is pushing it for a pair of jeans, but if you think about it, the tech and ideas that go into the piece is crazy. take these exon jeans for example: cadence reinforced your behind so when you get some serious riding in, the fuckers wont just blow out and rip on you.and like really expensive jeans, they're over dyed so when you wear them down, they look even better. along with these jeans is a raw denim jean, a pair of jackets, a cycling hat and even a shop apron (YEAH A SHOP APRON!) in the collection. go check it out, and give yourself something for christmas.

i fucking love stickers: pedal consumption stickers

(via supermarketsweep)
oh man... the supermarket sweep is baccccckk! it's been four years running where dudes and dudettes zip around the city by the bay all for the sake of the SF food bank. if it's your first time out, you best bring your a-game though, these dudes have the gnarliest cargo bikes... i wanna see this in action, forreal.

unhealthy attachment to SE; quadangle fixed proto

(via SE)

the quadangle was a pinnacle of freestyle bmx. and it was made by se. i like se, since i've had an se lager for 3 years. taking from what seems like the rear of the SE x UVT, the quadangle uses the silhouette ofthe bmx quadangle up front. advantages? it just looks really different. maybe the headtube angle is different. i'm just glad that this isnt made of aluminum (kinda bummed that the looptail is missing. damn. marwin's got the only one- yeah, one of one. kinda want to see how it looks built up!

i want one. that's probably the fanboyism talking.

bring me the horizon: squeeks for elevated engineering

Elevated Engineering presents Josh Boothby from Matt Lingo on Vimeo.

woke up this morning to a surprise: this. there's no denying that josh is a sav. we already know how smooth his rotations are, but now we get to see a trick that i dont think has been really done before- hangover grinds. although they arent on rails going down, you have to admit- that's fucking cool looking in slo-mo.

it's all great but this song reminds me od how much bring me the horizon has changed. i like liked the early BMTH, where olly sykes punched people for no reason.

sneaker skids are the future: bunny hops for breast cancer

Bunny Hops for Breast Cancer from Matthew Spencer on Vimeo.

lots of stuff going on in this edit. lots of matt spencer, but this is his edit- so we shouldnt expect less. that bunny througgh the ring blew my mind as well as the no footed wheelie and long ass smoothies. jakob also hits this huuuuuuuuge wallplant, and squeeks does a couple 180 bars. boothby took first, matt second, and santos took third. looks like a great event!

Ed and Ed from Edward LAforte on Vimeo.

you probably have no clue who edwin de la rosa is, you best look down on your animal grips- youre probably riding his grips. i know i am. and this is a shameless plug, but i love them stupid grips. so nice, i bought that shit twice. oh, and it doesnt hurt that he's a legit bmx rider for animal and skavenger. here's a short one with a dude we all know and de la rosa. damn..wonka wrecks himself...

(via yim's joint)

i would formerly love to say, GOOOODDAAAMMN these frames are beautiful. i really, really, really, want to see this in person. i bet there are so many details on this bike that arent even touched on yet. personally, i favor maggied's machine more since it's got some flat black- never knew the accents and shit would look better that way.,.

is this a rider only thing? or will it be around?

big backpack: wonka vs seoul

Wonka Vs. Seoul from vincent shim on Vimeo.

so many grinds! what ive noticed after watching so many edits in foreign countries is that america sucks in terms of reallly realllllly nice spots. i mean we may bave a nice spot here and there, but they'll never be as nice as what korea, or japan, or france, or spain's (etc.) got. maybe i'm just complaining too much. wonka recently made his way across the pacific to attend seoul's BFF. while he was out there, he got together with a couple riders and this happened. killer.

triiiiiii-pyyyyy: kenzo minami x affinity x cinecycle

(via prolly)

forgive me, i just got rid of firefox, and this is the first time i'm using scribefire on google chrome- but you wouldnt have know this if i hadnt told you, and really, i have nothing to apologize for. earlier i was gonna post a vid for this, but a nifty picture popped up at prolly's joint, so i decided to use that. but here's the vid:

AFFINITY CYCLES x KENZO MINAMI = DIGITIZER from Cinecycle on Vimeo.

i dont want to explain this all, so i'll let cinecyle do my work.

"Affinity Cycles, one of the most respected independent bicycle brands in the world, is not only seen raced in velodromes by professional cyclists, but also ridden on the city streets by fashionable commuters, elite bike messengers, and passionate cyclists. The signature Affinity “Kissena“ track frame is the key component of the “Digitizer” project and represents the pinnacle of bicycle frame technology.

Kenzo Minami is an artist and designer who grew up in Japan in the 80’s. During this time, Japan experienced a huge economic boom fueled by the country’s technological supremacy. The graphic design that dominated this era was one that underscored the “more is more” attitude. Japanese design embraced a euphoric idealism of the new digital frontier where design became a fantastic reflection of all technology could be. Kenzo’s inspiration for “Digitizer” came from this nostalgia of his childhood. However, this inspiration is tempered with a practical purpose. “Within the chaos of visual information found on city streets it is important that the design allows the bicycle to stand out and be recognized by both pedestrians and cars alike,” reflects artist Kenzo Minami. “The colors and patterns on the bicycle were carefully conceived and laid out with the understanding that they will not only be seen when the frame and wheels are static but more importantly how they will be transformed when the bicycle is in motion."

Cinecycle curated this project, with the goal of producing an item of extreme beauty and quality, which explores the intersection of form, function and design. To that end, Cinecycle is proud to have brought together premiere artist Kenzo Minami and Affinity Cycles to create the "Digitizer" project. “Digitizer synthesizes concepts that are fundamental to our culture with regard to how technology can inform and transform our perception of space. Affinity Cycles, Kenzo Minami, and Cincecyle have come together to create a project that expresses how the cyclist, even in our modern digital age, still represents the most simple and effective union of man and machine," says Daniel Leeb, CEO,
Cinecycle."

baby blue and brown: SE x oakley

(via se FB)
the 2011 revise of the retro pk ripper will feature one of the most recognized parts in BMX history- the oakley b1-b grip. formerly something like unobtanium, the oakley grip was damn hard to find, and hella expensive for NOS. but if you had them you were the SHIT. there will be 5 different colorways- 500 pairs will be made in each color. what excites me most is the announcement of the american only "all black everything" edition pk...

oh, what's this? oakley factory pilot gloves? if youve never tried their factory pilot (not to be mistaken with the sunglasses) gloves, then you may experience a sense of euphoria when you put these on. they shortened the cuff as well as perforated the knuckle pad (sorry, no carbon knuckles- this is old school factory pilot!) and a pretty cool nod to the b1-b grip on the index finger.

lest we forget, the sunglasses. donning blue and brown as well as the SE logo on the inside, they guys went with the timeless frogskin- note the era specific logo! they're only making 200 pairs, 100 worldwide, 100 in the us of a.

damn... i want them sunglasses.

jmik

how many rad things can you find in this picture?

(via cyclezine)

1) cinelli laser
2) sleeves with integrated gloves? preposterous.
3) damn, that chainring is big
4) hood ride rattle caned cinelli logos on the..
5) cinelli colormatched discs
6) cinelli helmet
7) is it just me or is that fork tire clearance REEEEAAALLLY tiny?

ugh, everything in this picture blows my mind.

Night Crawlers: PFG night sesh

Peninsula Fixed Gear teaser - Night Session from Destroy Bicycles on Vimeo.

damn, i swear i know where this spot is. so yeah, i know the spacing between my last PFG post to this one is a little narrow, but what can i say- they dudes roll hard. and bail hard. ouch. look out for the destroy bicycles 26" fixed making a brief cameo!

mixing it up: KANT! HAMABIKE

KANT! HAMABIKE 2010 from k@nt! on Vimeo.

damn, it's been a while since ive seen some good skate. theres some many good lines on 2 wheels and 4 wheels that i cant put it into words. so many great japanese riders up in here. if anyone was doubting the durcus one stylin, then here's your chance to see it in action. damn, those last few lines are BANGERS- slo mo any everything! oh, and by the way, when was the last time you saw a starfuckers frame? as odd as they look, it's stull one of my favs...

jmik

hi-cock-a-larious: cx bingo

(via hipsternascar)
i can guarantee that i have seen almost all of the things on this bingo board. call it a board of cliche, but you cant say you havent seen some of these things in any coverage of cyclocross. that's what's great about cross- some people think it's a joke, but it's really a fun time. and you cant deny that the environment surrounding is always positive, nor can you deny that some of these things are seriously rad. for some reason i'm imagining darrell hammond as sean connery on SNL saying all these things.... ha.

it is what it is: volume vandal

(via volume)
after posting up the volume line, a couple people i know  came up to me today and asked if this thing was a 26 specific frame. before you throw out your thrasher, volume has some stuff to say about the vandal/sledgehammer:

"Apparently our new Vandal frame has gotten a ton of feedback from all
sorts of peeps in the industry, I mean blogs.  Is it a FGFS or a DJ?
The Vandal is basically our Sledgehammer 26″ BMX, except simplified.
We’re not saying it’s one or the other.  It’s a 26″ frame that was
designed to easily maneuver around for whatever you ride; fixed, dirt or
just cruise the curbs.
"

like i said in the last post, its looking like what sunday! bmx did with their +4 line. it utilizes the feel of a bmx without being too much of a DJ geo. pretty dope concept if you ask me.

cyclonesia: mashinelli x woof x arfx

(via cyclonesia)
i know i'm on a design and art high right now, so i think im appreciating this thing way too much. this is a mashinelli from indonesia that belongs to a duder named robby. instead of going with the alrready cool graphics, it was changed up with the help of WOOF and arfx.

"Our friend Robby "Obi" Susilo want a special paint for his special
Cinelli Mash.. so he asked us and ARFX to do the custom paint job. So
for us.. we use it as a canvas! For me, when Obi said "the
word "MASH", it is associated for "something raw and dirty" and with our
own "definition" of MASH, it is a splattered black paint and gold prada
on a raw Cinelli Mash frame. It's a perfect combination of street look
but still got class!.. It's like you dig a hole with love on a megapolitan street then you find a treasure! Raw, raawk and bling swagga"

the gold accents smeared all over looks hella nutssss...

support your local couriers: chico bicycle courier

when you think courier service, you probably think about big cities like new york and SF. you would never think about chico, a college town wayyy up north in California. this has been an idea concocted from the mind of my good friend and partner in crime ted shred who has been a courier for years and years. chico bicycle courier has been going strong for a little while now, and i personally know all the dudes who work for the service.

recently, ted got a hold of his buddy and world renowned artist jeremy fish to do up the CBC logo. when i heard about this, i flipped out- jeremy fish's art is easily identifiable, and i really couldnt believe that he got jeremy to do the logo. check out the affinity and the upper playground logo!

cadence for fergus: giant omnium, cadence style.

built
(via zibaspace)
alot of people tend to forget about the giant omnium. this belongs to fergus, who won the frame at the SF fast friday event. correct me if i'm wrong, but this looks SO DOOOOPE. proper build, proper rider, proper paint job by a proper dude.

jmik

full volume: cutter v6, generator, sledgehammer complete, vandal frame

volume is currently working on their new site, and they finally got an rss feed that i dont have to search around for. that being said, alot is in store for next season.

tight lipped about almost all of there upcoming projects, volume is being no different with the updated cutter. removing the hourglass tubing, as well as adding a curved seat tube, the v6 (maybe?) looks really promising. oh, and it looks like they FINALLY addressed the tire clearance issue. honestly, alot of cutter riders saw it as a fatal flaw, and i'm glad there's finally clearance.

the generator is something completely different. you and i know volume as a bmx frame supplier, and partially a fixed gear machine supplier, but not as a commuter type thing. for some reason, i would LOVE to see someone make this into an ss cross machine. come on, you know you think that would be ridiculously rad. it had all the fixings to be a real contender too. somebody get back at me when someone does it. PLEASE.

the sledgehammer and the vandal are two 26 inch setups. and no, not for fixed gear riding. the sledgehammer is due in mid march, and unlike other dirt jumper frames built for the street- it looks like it will ride just like a standard 20". the geometry looks like a bmx street frame over a DJ frame (much like sunday!'s +4 series). the vandal on the other hand... i dont know much about. assuming that it's following the sledgehammer's fire, it's going to be really dialed.

the grime dont take no rests: three from the grime

(via thegrimestore)
so you got your yo mang, and youre wondering- "hey, what happened to all those cool ass shirts that the grime was making?" and you probably assumed that they were taking a rest due to their website being down... NEWSFLASH DOUCHEBAGS, THE GRIME DONT TAKE NO RESTS. with three new shirt designs, the grime takes on 3 different aspects of their NY lifestyle: tags, tree, and crazy ass voodoo shit. you can swoop them at their webstore. the "hotboy" design reminds me of a world industries kind of thing (which, by the way, is the shit) and (even better) comes in a hoodie! i want this one for christmas!

48 splined goodness: Specialized P-fix chainring

(via slum)
one thing i noticed on scott horton's bike at sf bike expo was this gnarly ass chainwheel he was running. it's a specialized 48 splined chainwheel that's going to be a part of the specialized p-fix line along with the 9t driver. so far it's only 23 and 25t, which is cool...if you have a 9t hub. i'm just waiting til they come out with bigger tooth counts- could you imagine if i straight up removed the ano and polished it? thing would look like straight SHMEEEEXXX. hoping to see more of the p-fix line...

pretty friggin useful: DIY hip pouch

(via lockedcog)
by using that piece of pant leg you cut off on your cut-off jeans, kris found a way to make it into a hip pack. hell, it sure beats buying a brand new one that will cost you half your wallet. all you need is a pant leg, basic sewing skills, and some various parts you can find anywhere. honestly, a hip pack is really useful, and it's always good to have one even as a tool pouch. definitely a great idea for those pant legs. check it!

the unofficial colors of "fast": richard's fixed frame

so i have good news and bad news. good news is that i'm in my hometown of san jose for the weekend. bad news is that the internet kinda sucks so much that i cant post up videos, which limits what i can do right now. lucky for me, some beautiful ass bikes caught my eye this past week and i finally have an excuse to post them.

(via feather)
what we have here is a track frame built up by feather cycles which is based out of york from across the pond in the UK ( some ways away from leeds, if you know where that is). if you know your le mans history, then you already know that these colors emulate the famous gulf oil livery. featuing hand carved stem lugs, chrome and nickel accents, a hand carved bridge, and reynolds 853 tubing, this thing will make you wanna slap yo mamma. one of my favorite accents is the polished bb tube:

no one would ever notice that unless they knew what they were looking at.now the blog says it's a tribute to the 70's porsche of the gulf team:

but i beg to differ... in the late 1960's was a better suited, and more beautiful car that donned the gulf colors:

so instead of associating the bike with gulf porsche, lets associate it with the 69' ford gt-40...
