what the fuck happened to FGFS part II: the shift and split

when i last left you on this series of essays,  i dove into the origins of FGFS. it was quick, and basically spanned from the days of breaking carbon forks doing keo spins, into breaking everything doing 360 flyouts. now here comes the stuff that will make you either love what i'm saying or hate what i'm saying. get it after the jump.

allow me to reintroduce myself: BHSK is back.

hey y'all. it's been a while since i've had this thing active and to be honest- i really do not know where to start. some of y'all have some questions so i'll answer a few.

where the hell did you go?
life caught up to me. i did not intend to stop BHSK, but when i did, i ghosted out. juggling work and the blog and life wasn't working out at the time. plus the fixed gear scene in san jose disappeared when iMD closed down- that affected the blog and i a lot. i got a job that i actually use my degree in which stacked on top of my bike sales gig, i changed the way i live to something a little more healthy, and cut out the blog for a while. a long while.

so if you were gone for that long, why come back?
i'm a little more stable, but over the course of the time i was AFK, i noticed a big shift in fixed gear. i want to rant about it. i also miss riding bikes. i've been hanging around proper mountain bikers, roadies and cyclocross dudes for so long, it makes me want to ride a stupid bike. you know, the kind that you and i like.

has anything changed and will anything change for this blog?
fuck no! okay, maybe that's not true. my interests have changed a bit but the main focus will and always will be fixed gear. you might see a sprinkling of enduro or cross stuff or road bike stuff, but that's because that shit is rad. hey, you might like it.

get any new bikes?
first off, i still have my destroy 29er. that thing is my pride and joy. i've added to the fleet a destroy bmx (previously owned by the homie tod), a pake tarck build, a GT sensor full suspension build, and (as of this month) a ghost nivolet EBS ultegra. i still have a sunday model c to build and a REALLY WANT TO BUILD A MONSTERCROSS BIKE.

when will you start?
right fucking now. right now.

the revival, fam: empire 2 teaser

Empire 2 teaser from crihs on Vimeo.
i'm going to be honest here, this blog has been in the back of my mind ever since work started consuming me whole. i thought that building up a track bike would spark something in me to start it up, but that was a couple months ago.

i've never really been compelled to return and pick up the pieces until november 23, 2015 at precisely noon; because for some reason some planets aligned and my computer autoplayed a video on alex gonzalez' facebook as i was leaving to the gym. what stopped me was at :24..... "IS THAT FUCKING TOM LA MARCHE?" (this was probably the most fanboy fixie thing to scream out)

that is what grabbed my attention, but what kept my attention was seeing alex, wonka and slum owning the city. mind you, i haven't set eyes on anything FGFS or track bike related in several months so my mind was blown into chunks to see how much these guys have progressed. well fuck, if that's not inspirational, i dont know what is. i might be late to the game on the second coming of the empire movie, but hey- i was never good at keeping up with this shit anyway. if you havent watched it, i highly suggest you do. now excuse me, i'm going to tell the gym to fuck off and find the nearest steep hill to huck myself off of.

easing back into the computer chair: where the fuck have you been bhsk?

i've been busy. let's rip this bandage off quickly: i bought a mountain bike. it has gears and brakes. dont worry, i haven't caught full on prolly syndrome yet, and i'm still bomb hills speed kills. if it makes you feel any better, i took this out to a san jose fixed ride and clocked it bombing a hill doing 37. so nothing's changed. am i bored with fixed? fuck no. i've just come to a point where i have to broaden my horizons (personally, not on this blog) for a sec. i got it out of my system. this little hiatus wasn't all away from the blog however, for i have finished drafting up a revamp of the format of this here website. it'll be up in a few weeks give or take.

oh, and a while back my girlfriend was really irked that i spend a bunch of time blogging. when i revealed that i had been away from it for a month, she basically said "why the fuck did you do that for? that shit is your life, you dumbass."

she's a keeper. and now onwards with the schedule programming.
