and now for the news: chris hoy retires from cycling

(via CBC)
chris hoy is one of the greatest track cyclists to come out of the past 2 decades and is partly responsible for the recognition of the british as a modern cycling powerhouse. winning world championship podiums since '99, sir chris hoy has 11 world chamionship golds and 6 olympic gold medals under his belt. on april 18th, 2013, he announced that he will be bowing out of the commonwealth games and retiring from cycling. what was impressive to me was his response as to why he's no longer going to ride- he basically saw his performance slowly wear away, and made the decision based upon the fact that he won't be able to keep his pace. that's some strong stuff. anyway, you can read into it some more over here.
