the return of a legend: the Cinelli LASER

“Today thanks to the rebirth of steel and people like yourselves, a dream is about to be realized: the Cinelli Laser will return. Not just as a museum display, but a track machine; rigid and lively, more even so than its predecessor 20 years ago. All the original protagonists are ready and motivated: Andrea Pesenti who built 300 through out the 80s, myself Antonio Colombo who thought them up, Paolo Erzegovesi who engineered them and Emilvano Montorio who pulled out the tubes. New in the band will be Alessandra Cusatelli, my partner, and Cinelli design co-ordinator of the last 10 years. As Always it will only be available in limited editions. The kids are alright!”

-Antonio Colombo of cinelli

“The Laser, as far as I know, is ready to roll back in the shops. I am really pleased with the new Cinelli´s strategy of proposing great stuff. After years where fresh ideas were not proposed, now they´ve five single-speed or track models… Let´s see what will happen with the New and the Vintage Laser´s.”
-Andrea Pesenti

so you know what this means? i don't think you understand what this means. this means...

this will soon be seen on the streets/drome once again. now, you know how i am- this blog IS (if i'm not mistaken) cantered and named after around the activity known as hill bombing. and you already know that i love bikes that have the potential to herniate a spinal disk just by getting into a comfortable position. this bike has history. in 1985, this frame was responsible for the hour record:

this bicycle was a piece of art touched by the late keith haring:

this bicycle defined the pursuit shape. not only that, it ushered in an era of tig welding as well as defined the 80s as an era of designing of aerodynamic positioning as well as frame shapes. overall, the cinelli laser IS what cinelli is all about.

this brings the cinelli fixed gear line up to:
the mashinelli
the vigorelli
the supercorsa pista
the gazetta
the mystic rats
the laser

i cant wait to see the laser. this news is HUGE for me, as it should for you.

tipped off by lady turbo!
