these popular euro bars have been recalled as of last week. i know a couple dudes who run these, but not new ones. if you scooped one after june 09, you may run some risk:
"SAFETY RECALL - DMR Alloy Handlebars (25.4mm) sold since June 2009

Partridge Green, West Sussex - DMR Bikes, a subsidiary of Upgrade Bikes Ltd, today announced a voluntary recall of the DMR COLOURED ALLOY WINGBAR sold since June 2009.

Units:  480

Hazard: The handlebar can crack or break, posing a possible fall hazard to the consumer. We have identified a potentially serious safety issue with the latest batch of the 25.4mm anodized alloy Wingbar. It only affects the Coloured Alloy 25.4mm DMR Wingbars sold since June 2009.

Action: CONSUMERS SHOULD STOP USING THESE HANDLEBARS AT ONCE, remove them from the bike and return them to the supplier (or to DMR Bikes directly) who will arrange for a free replacement.

Incidents/Injuries:
DMR Bikes has received three reports of handlebars breaking, which resulted in minor abrasions and bruises to the rider.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Sold by: Specialty bicycle retailers nationwide and via web sites from June 2009 with a SRP of £29.99.

Description: This recall involves DMR Alloy Wingbars sold as individual aftermarket units. The handlebars are finished in shiny bright anodized colours; black, blue, grey, green, purple or red. They have the DMR Bikes logo laser etched on the left hand side and Wingbar logo laser etched on the right hand side (when looking at the front of the bar).

The affected handlebar is the 25.4mm anodized alloy Wingbars (pictured above).

We have determined that there is a potential for the handlebar to fail due to a possible fault in the manufacturing process. This is not a design fault, but a problem with the manufacturing and it is impossible to judge which handlebars are affected until they break.
We are very sorry for any inconveniences that this may cause.

This recall DOES NOT affect the following bars:
•    DMR Alloy Wingbar – 31.8mm with ‘classic graphics’
•    DMR Alloy Wingbar with ‘classic graphics’
•    DMR Cro-Mo Wingbar with a brace
•    DMR Heat treated Cro-Mo Wingbar
•    Any DMR bar fitted to a DMR complete bike

Remedy: Consumers should stop riding these any bicycle fitted with these handlebars immediately and contact an authorized DMR Bikes dealer for a free replacement handlebar. DMR Bikes will be supplying new replacement handlebars for all affected customers.

Customers must stop using the handlebar and return it even if there are no visible signs of damage.

If you've bought this product for someone else or know someone who has one, please let them know about this recall as soon as possible.

What next: Replacement parts will start to arrive into the U.K via air shipment within the next few weeks. These will be limited numbers at first due to manufacturing and delivery time restraints. However we do have alternatives available immediately and we will have large numbers of replacement parts available as soon as possible. We will have stock to replace all affected handlebars.

Replacement handlebars will have a sand blast surface finish in the central clamp area making it easier to identify the defective product which do not have this finish.

Should you have any queries or concerns regarding this recall please call 01403 711 611 where our staff are happy to help. Lines are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday or via email info@dmrbikes.com

DMR Bikes would also like to stress the only model affected is the coloured Alloy Wingbars in 25.4mm sold since June 2009. No other models of DMR handlebars are affected.

DMR Bikes would like to take this opportunity to apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by this recall. We will endeavor to carry out this recall quickly and with as little inconvenience as possible.
