i came up on some money after i graduated, and the first thing i decided to buy with said money was some CSK socks. then i got an email from jacob saying my socks wont ship until next week- this is why. he's currently overseas hanging out with the spike parts and bb17 crew riding unfamiliar territory. even though i have to wait a minute, seeing jacob rip taiwan a new one makes me more hyped up for my socks for some reason.

hope they come with superpowers.

olli is no stranger to awesome and wierd builds. go to his website and browse through his completed builds and current builds and you'll quickly understand that he's one bad dude. one of his recent creations is this "takhion style" track bike made for the street. if i'm not mistaken, this is his second takhion style build, his last one being a full on replica. this one, however, is more catered to the street. i really like this- some people think the different sized triangles are strange, but i'm not some people....

check out olli's stuff here- he's also building up a citroen 2cv hot rod in volksrod fenderless style!

there's alot i want to say, but i would like to start off by saying: i dont like pink floyd. however those shots in the beginning with the unedited floyd were magic. i've never been to the east coast, and this makes me want to take a trip out there. the DKshop moviehaus made their way across the pacific and over the western side of the US to new york city to document some really good stuff in an american version of their seoul got soul series. be aware that the camera gets shaky here and there; i think it adds to it. someone ted shreds in here, and it makes me want to go out on my fast bike.

what happened to those boda boda dudes? they were pushing some dope stuff for a while and then vanished...

tokyobike (no relation to UK's tokyo fixed, i believe.... i hope) has recenly made a move into london. originally based in japan, tokyobike has opened up stores in europe in hopes to infiltrate the commuting scene. their niche that sets them apart is the use of 650c wheels. to commemorate their london shop opening they've collabo-ed with some london artists on bikes. as an opinionated person, there are hits and misses with this. first they have a white on white on white singlespeed with the polka dots which is screaming i'm too hip bro- no bueno. but the one on the bottom is something i would ride- thing needs panniers and those hammered fenders! anyway, i just thought these were some interesting machines; check them out here.

if redbull is for the fans, midwest mayhem is the comp by the riders for the riders. on june 9th, the FGFS riders who want to be there will be up in milwaukee changing the game. i feel like midwest mayhem is a better representation of FGFS over ride n style since there's no corpo agenda and no invitational crap. peep the blog for updates.

surprise prize by TTv too? i cant imagine what it is, but i think it's along the lines of seeing whats under the ski mask and achieving full metal enlightenment like a horror movie buddha.

joe is a powerhouse in the FGFS game coming off a third place finish at ride n style. you cant really get in depth over his riding style because you won't get further than the description of "joe's style"- it is what it is and no one holds a friggin flame to it. now i know there are bangers in here, but it's the little nuances that get to me; take the like at :45. where people would pivot then 180 in a full cab, joe just straight powers through it. there are so many of these things, so look for them and understand that joe's style is becoming so dynamic that it's almost untouchable.

daniel torres doesn't spend alot of time in the forefront, so i love it when stuff comes out from him. he's a part of the destroy fam, a member of the #bigboywheelclique, and he's gonna take you down to hammer town. he's one of the few riders out there that has that "front of the bike" control down- he nose mannies are pretty long, and his hangover's are pulled out on both 26 and 29ers. did he kind aET into that pedal slide at :30? because that's ill. that last one was a killer.

just saw this one pop up and i have to post it. remember when phil busted on the scene with a BARRAGE of edits? well this is the renaissance. my homie's putting that new grime goat to work (on a side note, grime will be discontinuing the GOAT soon, so get on that) and i've come to the conclusion that phillip is like the james brown of FGFS. everywhere, all the time, quite possibly the hardest working dude out there. there's cutty creativeness all around. definitely something to watch.

i know i used to be extremely foul mouthed on the posts but as of late i'm dialing it back and avoiding curse words or whatever. but in this it's inevitable to come across an edit that makes me go over that line- like dennis bejtic's rat shit. i'm really liking this because it's just over that point of "weird equilibrium"; its one of those edits where you go "what the hell did i just watch? and why is my cat dead?"

no, i'm not supported by sadio, but i do own a sadio booster fork thanks to iminusd and with an unbiased opinion i can say i'm impressed with it. this isn't the first time sadio's released a frame- their first one didn't really hit the ground running. however with a rider like dew sippawit doing R&D, this might possibly be a bomb proof frame. as a student of frame geometry it's not that much different than other FGFS frames, but paired with the steep fork offset, we're talking about an extremely tight and responsive frame that can take a big hit in stress point areas. look for it at your local sadio dealer soon!

marco is one of the better known names in japan's FGFS scene, and i was kinda bummed when he wasnt invited to redbull again this year. marco is one of those riders that has a recognizable riding style punctuated with super fast bars and tweaked out airs and rotations. at around a minute he does this tabled 180 that really shows his bike control due to the fact that the ledge he jumps off is pretty low.... sadio is stackin that team, yo.

here in chico there's a park that goes by the name of bidwell. it has a bunch of dirt singletracks that run by a creek- i like to hit those on my 29er from time to time, and this totally reminds me of that. newcastle fixed has been dropping lifestyle stuff here and there, but they haven't had something that features an FGFS bike yet. i'm happy that it came out in this kind of medium because it's 100 percent rad.

really digging these lugs man... colossi's frames are hit and miss in my world, but this one goes under hit. it's built with columbus keirin spirit tubing, stuck together with custom lug work. so not only is it mad light and strong, it's got a classic panache to it. call me picky, but why is the bottom bracket lug painted over?

i'd still hit it.

5onit clothing's been making some waves in FGFS. their last drop was with the san jose local jimmy watcha, and now they dropped one with jordan madarang of stockton. this guy's someone to watch for- if you can recall, i made some hullaballoo about how fixed freestyle should be and jordan fits what i described. lots of fixed freestyle specific tricks in there.

the fixie factory is at it again, this time adding mike dinh from last times's line up of antonyo, oscar khan, and sean coats. i'm really liking how mike and sean are coming back to the forefront and though they may not have alot of the lime light as other riders, i believe they have unique riding styles that should be seen. sean's line of ET up 3 down needs to be respected, and mike's line at 3:26 is one of those lines that looks difficult and is really probably as difficult as it looks. then there's antonyo who's got that tech panache, and oscar who's got that oscar-ness. put it all together. take it all in.

because i come from a university that stresses alot on sustainability, i'm intrigued by bicycle companies that hold the same standard. i recently came up on this little writeup by pinkbike about a purveyor of certain aluminum goods known as chris king (maybe you've heard of them) and their strive to become a sustainable company. you should check it out, no matter what you think about chris king components (believe me, sometimes i think very negatively about them), you should really check it out.

engine no. 11 is making their entry into the aluminum track bike sector with their sprinter frame. constructed of smooth welded columbus airplane (which has found familar ground on frames like the mashinelli) with a columbus track fork, this thing looks like crazy fun to ride. these are just protos- changes include gloss forks and 31.8 dia seat post. i'm really digging this, so i'll keep you posted.

i've been running this blog for almost four years now and i'm at a point in my life to share who i am to my readers. a while back i posed this photo of who i claimed to be a random dude. this is actually me.

my name is jereme mika'ele if you haven't figured it out- i go by "jmik" online, or "jer" in real life. i'm a chico state graduate with a BA in psychology, that found fixed gear cycling and turned it into a hobby in the form of media coverage and blogging. i don't consider myself a rider, i'm an enthusiast. i intend to provide a different perspective of the fixed gear realm and i pride myself on being honest. i'm not a photographer, just a guy with a camera. i'm not a professional blogger, i'm just a guy with an aging laptop. i'm not paid to blog, i'm not paid to cover events; i only have friends and family who support what i do.

as overbearing as this sounds, i'm not ending the blog. i just wanted to let everyone know who i am since i'm pretty sure i'm shrouded in a strange mystical haze. i've put my image away from the website and i think it's time that you should know who i am.

i dont like posting up single pictures, but this one has alot going for it so i'll roll with it. jakob is family, literally. like iminusd said, we dont get to see him as often since he's no longer in the bay area. he's hella chill and never forgets where he came from regardless of the fact that he's situated down south. judging by the buildings, i know where this was shot in san jose and again, it's another awesome shot by matt reyes!
